Today was our day off, we took a boat ride over 20 miles to a sight of the Lamanai Mayan Ruins. It was really neat to see. We are currently enjoying some down time before dinner and a youth service at the church tonight.
What great pictures and what a great experience for all of you. It's hard to imagine that after so many hundreds of years Belize still has Mayans ruins standing .The land was very fertile and a because of the proximity to to the water it was an important trade route and a big part of the population were merchants and farmers. I remember reading the Mayans believed the gods lived underground and that caves were sacred....and now you are there walking through history. Soak it all up and enjoy every minute.
